2026-27 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey Details, Boxes and Inserts

2026-27 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey Product Details

2026-27 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey brings back one of the hobby’s most layered annual NHL releases, continuing the brand’s familiar mix of serial-numbered base cards, rookie redemptions, acetate content, autographs, memorabilia cards, and bounty-driven inserts. Artifacts has long stood out for the number of different chase paths it offers in a single product, and this year’s edition follows that same formula with a broad checklist structure and several returning and new insert concepts.

For collectors, the appeal remains the variety. The product combines a tiered base set, a deep parallel lineup, multiple signed and relic formats, and the ongoing Aurum bounty program. It also continues to rely on Rookie Redemptions as a key part of the release, a familiar feature for Artifacts because of the timing of the product on the hockey card calendar.

In hobby format, each box is slated to deliver a mix of hits and numbered content. Collectors can expect two total autographs, memorabilia cards, or tech inserts, along with four serial-numbered base cards or base parallels. Boxes also include either one Rookie Redemption card or one acetate insert, plus one Aurum bounty card.

Hobby Box Configuration and Release Information

The announced hobby configuration for 2026-27 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey is as follows:

  • 4 cards per pack
  • 8 packs per hobby box
  • 20 boxes per case
  • Two 10-box inner cases per master case
  • 240-card set
  • Release date: TBA

The 240-card total includes 200 standard set cards and 40 Rookie Redemption cards. As always with early product information, details are subject to change before release.

Upper Deck’s stated hobby box expectations are:

  • 2 total autographs, memorabilia cards, or premium inserts
  • 1 total Rookie Redemption or acetate card
  • 1 Aurum insert
  • 4 total serial-numbered base cards or parallels

Base Set Breakdown

The base set is built across five segments, giving Artifacts its signature layered structure. The first 100 cards are traditional base cards, while the remaining numbered sections shift into stars, greats, rookies, and Rookie Redemptions.

  • Base: #1-100
  • Stars: #101-150, numbered to 699
  • Greats: #151-170, numbered to 699
  • Rookies: #171-200, numbered to 999
  • Rookie Redemptions: #201-240

This setup gives collectors a mix of current veterans, notable names, and incoming talent, while also preserving the product’s long-running redemption-based rookie structure. The first 100 cards anchor the checklist, but the numbered Stars, Greats, and Rookies sections are a major part of the release’s identity and provide additional chase depth through their own parallel and premium versions.

Base Parallels

The first 100 base cards have an extensive list of serial-numbered parallels. These are among the core chase elements in Artifacts every year, and 2026-27 keeps that tradition intact with a wide range of colors and scarcity levels.

  • Ruby - /599
  • Orange - /149
  • Platinum Sparkle - /99
  • Copper - /75
  • Rose - /65
  • Yellow - /50
  • Metallic Blue - /40
  • Pink - /35
  • Purple - /25
  • Amber - /15
  • Emerald’s Glow - /10
  • Black - /5
  • Masterful Artifacts - 1/1

The numbered Stars, Greats, and Rookies portions of the base set also have those same parallels, but they go further with additional premium chase versions. That gives the higher-numbered segments even more variety for player collectors and set builders looking for tougher pulls.

Leather, Wood, and Plexi Parallels

For the Stars, Greats, and Rookies subsets, Artifacts adds several specialty parallel formats with stated pack odds.

  • Leather Stars - 1:64 packs
  • Leather Legends - 1:160 packs
  • Leather Rookies - 1:107 packs
  • Wood Stars - 1:107 packs
  • Wood Legends - 1:267 packs
  • Wood Rookies - 1:178 packs
  • Plexi Stars - 1:160 packs
  • Plexi Legends - 1:400 packs
  • Plexi Rookies - 1:267 packs

The source information lists these premium versions across Stars, Legends, and Rookies. The main base breakdown identifies the middle numbered segment as Greats, while the premium parallel odds refer to Legends. Collectors familiar with Artifacts will recognize this type of premium treatment as part of the brand’s established structure.

Autograph and Memorabilia Parallels

Select base cards from each segment also receive autograph and memorabilia parallels. These signed and relic versions extend the base checklist and add another layer to the product’s main chase.

Autograph parallels include:

  • Black Autographs - /5

Memorabilia parallels include:

  • Gold Material - /249 or fewer
  • Emerald Material - /65 or fewer
  • Purple Materials - /25 or fewer
  • Black Material - /5 or fewer

For cards in the Stars, Legends, and Rookies subsets, there are also autographed memorabilia parallels:

  • Gold Materials Autographs - varied numbering
  • Emerald Materials Autographs - /15, with Rookies having varied numbering
  • Purple Materials Autographs - /10
  • Black Materials Autographs - 1/1

These combinations of signatures and relic pieces have long been central to Artifacts, especially for collectors chasing premium versions of star veterans, retired names, and rookie content.

Autograph and Memorabilia Inserts

Beyond the base set, 2026-27 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey includes a wide selection of autograph and memorabilia concepts. Some are established Artifacts staples, while others add fresh themes to the checklist.

Returning inserts include:

  • Auto Facts - 1:38 packs
  • NHL Remnants - 1:150 packs

New this year is Cold Hard Facts, numbered to 25. According to the product information, the set features intricate jumbo swatches, giving memorabilia collectors another premium relic chase outside the base parallels.

Another notable addition is a special Arena Artifacts set numbered to 75. This year’s version honors Alex Ovechkin with the GR8 Edition, tying notable moments from the NHL’s all-time leading goal scorer to relic pieces taken from seats at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. That gives the set a specific commemorative angle tied to one of hockey’s landmark achievements.

Shutout Stubs, numbered to 10, use ticket stubs from memorable goalie shutouts. That concept adds a different type of memorabilia card to the release and broadens the relic lineup beyond standard jersey-based content.

Additional Autograph and Memorabilia Concepts

The product information also lists the following inserts and signed sets:

  • Threads of Time - 1:450 packs
  • Top Tier Rookie Signatures - 1:1,000 packs
  • Top Tier Rookie Signatures - 2025-26 Update - 1:2,000 packs
  • Bench Marks - New York Rangers Edition - varied numbering
  • Classic Franchises Signatures - varied numbering
  • Checkmates Dual Signatures - varied numbering
  • Signature Apparel - varied numbering
  • Signs of Success - varied numbering
  • Tundra Teammates Duos - /49
  • Tundra Teammates Quads - /29
  • Esteemed Endorsements - /28
  • Antiquity Signatures - /25
  • Admirable Impressions - /24
  • Heavyweight Tickets - /10

This lineup keeps Artifacts positioned as a product with a broad autograph and memorabilia identity rather than one built around a single headline hit type. There are traditional signatures, dual-signed cards, multi-player relic cards, apparel-based pieces, and low-numbered specialty inserts spread throughout the checklist.

Acetate and Other Inserts

Collectors opening hobby boxes will also encounter several insert sets beyond the autograph and memorabilia content. Acetate cards remain part of the product mix, and they are joined by additional themed inserts that add visual variety and another level of scarcity.

The acetate offerings include:

  • 2025-26 Clear Cut Rookie Update - 1:29 packs
  • Clear Cut Rookies - 1:48 packs

Another insert set, Antiquity, falls at 1:144 packs and uses a design inspired by glass. That gives the checklist another premium-feeling insert concept that fits with Artifacts’ annual emphasis on texture, finish, and distinct materials.

Aurum Bounty Returns

Aurum once again serves as the product’s bounty chase, and Upper Deck has expanded the checklist for 2026-27. The Aurum program has become one of the defining features of Artifacts, giving collectors both pack-pulled insert goals and an online redemption component.

The 48-card Aurum set is split into multiple tiers with different odds:

  • Aurum base inserts - 1:48 packs
  • Aurum Holdover Rookies, #49-62 - 1:64 packs
  • Aurum All-Stars, #63-72 - 1:107 packs
  • Aurum Greats, #73-84 - 1:160 packs

Each Aurum bounty card has a scratch-off code on the back. Collectors who enter all 84 codes at UpperDeckBounty.com become eligible to receive cards #85 and #86. There are also additional rewards for the earliest completed redemptions.

Aurum Bounty Rewards

  • The first three collectors to redeem the complete 84-card Aurum Bounty set receive a 12-card Aurum set, one Aurum Autograph card, and one Aurum Dual Autograph card
  • The next seven collectors to redeem the complete 84-card Aurum Bounty set receive a 12-card Aurum set and one Aurum Autograph card
  • The next 15 collectors to redeem the complete 84-card Aurum Bounty set receive a 12-card Aurum set
  • All other collectors who complete the bounty set receive cards #85 and #86 only

That structure gives Aurum a layered appeal. Set builders can chase the full run for completion, while competitive bounty participants have an added incentive to finish quickly.

Rookie Redemption Program

Rookie Redemptions remain one of the central components of Artifacts Hockey. Because of NHL rules regarding players appearing in an official regular-season game before appearing on licensed cards, Artifacts typically arrives too early in the season to include many debuting players in standard card form.

Upper Deck’s answer is the Rookie Redemption program, which again includes team-based and wild-card rookie selections. These redemptions stand in for players who will be identified later in the 2026-27 NHL season once the relevant conditions are met.

Collectors can also find additional Rookie Redemption content beyond the standard cards. The product information notes that parallels, autograph versions, and memorabilia versions are also part of the Rookie Redemption structure.

The full list of players attached to the Rookie Redemption checklist will not be announced until later in the 2026-27 NHL season. That delayed reveal is a familiar part of the Artifacts release cycle and one of the reasons the product remains active on the secondary market well after its initial launch window.

Checklist Status and Set Size

At the time of the product information release, the full 2026-27 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey checklist had not yet been published. The manufacturer is expected to release the complete checklist later.

What is already established is the overall set size and structure:

  • Total set size - 240 cards
  • Standard cards - 200
  • Rookie Redemptions - 40

That framework gives collectors a clear view of how the release is built even before the full player-by-player checklist is available. Between the base set tiers, numerous parallels, acetate cards, autographs, memorabilia inserts, and the Aurum bounty program, 2026-27 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey again shapes up as a product with multiple collecting angles across veterans, legends, and incoming rookies.
