Aaron Rodgers Rookie Cards Show Modest Rebound Amid Free Agency

Once among the most sought-after collectibles, Aaron Rodgers’ rookie cards experienced a significant downturn following his recent challenges with the New York Jets. After missing the entire 2023 season with a ruptured Achilles and enduring a 5-12 record in 2024, the market for his Topps and Topps Chrome rookie cards fell sharply. For instance, data from Card Ladder indicates that the 2005 Topps rookie card, graded a PSA 10, reached a peak of $1,229.07 in January 2021 but has since dipped to just over $146—an approximate 88% decline. Similarly, the Topps Chrome version, which sold for $6,062.50 in early 2022, was recently transacted for $1,100 on March 13, 2025.

Despite these setbacks, signs of recovery are emerging as the veteran quarterback enters free agency. Recently, sales data shows a slight uptick: two weeks ago, a PSA 10 Topps Chrome rookie card was trading for $990, and the base version was around $115, with current figures edging up to $1,100 and $146.80 respectively. This modest rebound reflects growing optimism among collectors who believe that Rodgers—a future Hall of Famer and four-time NFL MVP—may soon experience a turnaround once he signs with a new team.

Speculation about his next destination is rife, with names like Minnesota, the New York Giants, and even Pittsburgh circulating as potential fits. Many argue that a move to the AFC North could be particularly beneficial, offering Rodgers the opportunity to pair with dynamic talents and potentially spark a career resurgence. While market values may never reach the highs seen in 2021 or 2022, any positive movement is welcomed by collectors and investors eager for a bounce-back story.
