A hidden treasure trove of vintage baseball cards, featuring some of the most legendary names in the sport, has been uncovered in a Muncie home. Troy McElfresh, auctioneer and CEO of Mr Bid Auctions, made the incredible discovery while preparing an estate for sale.

A Collector’s Dream Found in a Junk Drawer

McElfresh was cleaning out the home when he stumbled upon an unassuming kitchen junk drawer. What he found inside left him stunned.

"I opened it up, and there was Joe DiMaggio," McElfresh said. "Right alongside Yogi Berra, Satchel Paige, Ted Williams, and Jackie Robinson. I was in disbelief that these legends were all in one place."
The estate's family was aware of a card collection but had no idea where it was—or how significant it might be.

Authenticated Topps Cards from the 1940s & 1950s

To verify the collection’s legitimacy, McElfresh and his team sent the cards to Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) for grading. The results confirmed that these are genuine Topps cards from the 1940s and 1950s, featuring some of the biggest stars of baseball’s golden era.

"This is the real deal," McElfresh confirmed. "We've got Mantle and Berra on the same card in excellent condition. Joe DiMaggio’s card is in great shape—it’s an incredible find."

A Nostalgic Connection to Baseball’s Glory Days

Beyond its monetary value, the discovery struck a personal chord with McElfresh.

"I lost my dad a few years ago, and seeing these cards took me right back to my childhood—going to the ballpark with him, feeling that excitement of the game," he reflected.

Now Up for Auction – How to Bid

This remarkable collection of vintage baseball memorabilia is now available for bidding. The online auction runs through February 17, giving collectors a rare chance to own a piece of baseball history.

Bidders can register for free, and winners will be able to pick up their cards at the Mr Bid Auctions warehouse in Muncie.

For baseball enthusiasts and collectors, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire authentic cards from some of the sport’s greatest legends.
