Barbie is breaking new ground with the debut of a LeBron James Ken doll, created in collaboration with the LeBron James Family Foundation. The release marks a major milestone for the iconic toy brand, as it’s the first time a professional athlete has been turned into a Ken doll.

LeBron leads the charge as the inaugural figure in Mattel’s new “Kenbassadors” lineup—a series celebrating individuals who are making a meaningful impact through leadership, philanthropy, and cultural influence. The line is aimed at showcasing modern role models who go beyond their public personas.

The doll officially launches on April 14, priced at $75 USD, and comes complete with a display stand and Certificate of Authenticity. A special early release will take place on April 12 at the La Brea location of UNDEFEATED in Los Angeles, where a limited number of dolls signed by LeBron James will be available to fans and collectors.

A Tribute to the King

Designed to reflect James’ larger-than-life presence both on and off the court, the doll stands slightly taller than the typical Ken to honor his real-life 6'9" stature. The styling pulls directly from his personal brand and philanthropic efforts.

LeBron’s miniature counterpart wears a “We Are Family” t-shirt—highlighting the mission of his foundation—paired with a custom blue varsity jacket. Details include the number 23, an Ohio patch, an “LJ” chest emblem, and “LEBRON” stitched across the back with the phrase “Just a kid from Akron” underneath. Completing the look are Nike Terminator High sneakers, an homage to his connection with the brand.

Accessories round out the package with a pair of Beats headphones, a watch, sunglasses, hat, crossbody bag, and an “I Promise” wristband—symbolizing the values of his I PROMISE program.

More Than a Toy

This release isn’t just about adding another figure to the shelf—it comes with a charitable component. For every LeBron Ken doll purchased through Target between April 14 and April 19, Mattel will donate up to 5,000 copies of LeBron’s children’s book I Am More Than to Save the Children. The initiative is intended to provide inspiration and educational resources to kids across the country.

Mattel describes the Kenbassadors program as a celebration of individuals using their platform to uplift others, and LeBron fits that role naturally. Between his on-court legacy and his continued work in education and community development, his impact reaches well beyond basketball.

The LeBron James Ken doll offers collectors, fans, and younger generations a fresh take on what it means to be a modern icon. Whether displayed in a case or gifted to a child, it’s a piece that blends pop culture, philanthropy, and sports history in a way few collectibles can.
