Baseball card collectors are buzzing after a historic pull from the newly released 2024 Topps Chrome Update. A rare 1-of-1 Superfractor autographed card of Sadaharu Oh, the world’s ultimate home run king, has surfaced—much to the surprise of the collecting community. Topps had not included Oh on the product’s official checklist, making this discovery an even bigger shock.

A Surprise from Baseball’s Home Run King

The extraordinary card was pulled on Tuesday by Blez Sports Cards, instantly becoming one of the most exciting hits of the year. Sadaharu Oh, whose career 868 home runs far exceed any other player in professional baseball history, is celebrated as a global legend.

Oh played exclusively for the Yomiuri Giants in Nippon Professional Baseball, spanning four decades as one of the sport’s most dominant hitters. Today, he continues to influence the game as the chairman of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks.

Limited Autographs in Topps Chrome Update

The Superfractor autograph, a 1-of-1 card, isn’t the only rare Oh autograph in the set. Topps confirmed that 2024 Topps Chrome Update includes:

  • The 1-of-1 Superfractor autograph
  • A parallel numbered to just five copies
With only six total autographed cards of Oh in the set, these are some of the rarest collectibles in the hobby.

More Sadaharu Oh Autographs Are Coming

Collectors have even more to look forward to, as Topps has announced that Oh will feature in 13 upcoming products through 2025. The first two sets debuting his autographs are:

  • 2024 Topps Definitive Collection (Releases Dec. 11)
  • 2024 Topps Luminaries Baseball (Releases Dec. 27)

Dual and Triple Autographs to Watch For

Topps is raising the stakes by pairing Sadaharu Oh’s autograph with other baseball icons:

  • 1-of-1 Dual Autograph Card: Sadaharu Oh and Hank Aaron in 2024 Topps Definitive Collection
  • Triple Autograph Card: Sadaharu Oh, Hank Aaron, and Babe Ruth in 2024 Topps Transcendent Baseball
Looking ahead to 2025, Oh will share cards with modern Japanese stars Shohei Ohtani and Ichiro:

  • Dual Autograph Card: Oh and Ohtani in 2025 Topps Sterling
  • Triple Autograph Card: Oh, Ohtani, and Ichiro in 2025 Topps Definitive Collection

The Chase Is On

The discovery of the Sadaharu Oh 1-of-1 Superfractor has ignited the baseball card world, and with more autographs on the way, collectors have plenty to get excited about. From the ultra-rare Superfractor to dream pairings with legends like Hank Aaron and Shohei Ohtani, Oh’s cards are poised to be some of the most sought-after treasures of the next year.

Whether you’re a seasoned collector or a fan of baseball history, now is the time to get in the game and chase these incredible Sadaharu Oh autographs.
