A significant photograph of Michael Jordan during the 1991 NBA Finals was auctioned for $11,629. The sale included other notable sports images, capturing key moments in baseball history.

An unforgettable moment from Michael Jordan’s career was captured in an 11x14 color photograph that fetched $11,629 at a recent auction. The photo, taken by Carl Sissac, depicts Jordan in the midst of his famous hand-switching move against the Lakers during the 1991 NBA Finals. Notably, the photograph comes stamped with Sissac’s mark and holds a prestigious PSA Type I rating for its authenticity.

The sale was part of RMY Auctions’ May catalog, which included several historic sports photographs. Among the highlights was a 1949 wire photo featuring Bob Feller and Satchel Paige relaxing in the dugout shortly after Paige joined the Cleveland Indians. This particular image, which sold for nearly $7,000, is historically significant as it was used in the creation of Paige's 1949 Leaf baseball card.

Other notable sales at the auction included a 1934 posed photo of New York Giants pitcher Carl Hubbell, which went for $5,873, and an action shot from Wilt Chamberlain's record-setting 100-point game in 1962, which garnered $5,339. Both photographs are valued not only for their depiction of pivotal sports figures but also for their role in the production of collectible cards.

This auction underscores the high demand among collectors for iconic sports imagery, especially those that capture legendary figures and moments in sports history. Each piece sold represents a tangible connection to the past, celebrated and preserved by those who hold a deep appreciation for the legacy of these sports icons.
