Lorcana’s tenth release is nearly here, and the buzz is all about secrets and sleuthing. Whispers in the Well lands as the second set of the current rotation, with Disney and Ravensburger keeping plenty under lock and key. Even so, previews and leaks sketch out a set that leans into puzzle pieces, page fragments, and smart deck choices.
The rollout is staggered. Local game stores receive product on Friday, November 7, with early events and promo opportunities. Big retailers and major online shops follow on November 14, which means a week of LGS-first excitement before the wider release kicks in.
The centerpiece is a new card type called a Whisper, essentially a partial Glimmer. The theme points to assembling these fragments into a complete character, and the presentation sells it, parchment textures with worn edges that feel like torn pages from a lorebook. Four have been seen so far, Ursula, Whisper of Vanessa, Gaston, Frightful Bully, Megara, Secret Keeper, and Simba, King in the Making. A new ability named Boost is also in the mix. It appears to play in a similar space to Shift, since the Whisper cards we have seen ask you to slide a card underneath them. Instead of paying Ink in the standard way, you are tucking a card beneath the Whisper, which turns top deck knowledge into fuel. If you can look at the next few cards, you can stash a low value draw. If you cannot see the top card, you risk losing something critical.
New franchises step into the spotlight. Gargoyles brings a heavy hitter in Demona, Scourge of the Wyvern Clan, a six Ink character with five Strength and six Willpower that exerts every opposing character when she enters play. Other glimpses from the clan include Demona, Betrayer of the Clan, Coldstone, Reanimated Cyborg, Bronx, Ferocious Beast, Goliath, Guardian of Castle Wyvern, Brooklyn, Second in Command, and Goliath, Clan Leader.
The Black Cauldron arrives with a mechanical twist that reshapes deck building. The item The Black Cauldron costs three Ink and lets you move a character from your discard pile under the cauldron, then gives you a way to play characters stored there. That is a form of reanimation inside Lorcana, and it opens a fresh archetype. The card list that ties in includes The Horned King, Heartless Devil, The Horned King, Wicked Ruler, The Horned King, Triumphant Ghoul, Hen Wen, Prophetic Pig, Hen Wen’s Visions, Cauldron Born, and Gwythaint, Savage Hunter.
Set size looks familiar. Expect a 204 card base, plus 18 Enchanted, 18 Epic, and 2 Iconic, for a total of 242. About 190 cards have surfaced through reveals so far. The Iconic duo is Hades, Looking for a Deal, and Ariel, Ethereal Voice. Hades pressures your opponent to bottom a character you choose or let you draw two cards. Ariel rewards song play with card draw, provided she already has a card placed under her.
The story beats lean into investigation. The tagline reads Light Your Path, an invitation to follow the whispers with sharp eyes and a playful mindset. Artwork showcases detective flavored moments, and Judy Hopps looks like a key player. The Well is hiding something, and the set’s mechanics make the search part of the fun.
