This October, Bandai is giving the global One Piece TCG community a major boost with the English release of the PRB-02 reprint set. By bringing back some of the game’s most in-demand cards, PRB-02 is poised to make competitive One Piece decks far more affordable, while opening the doors for new players eager to set sail in the popular trading card game.

Since the English version of Romance Dawn hit shelves in 2022, One Piece TCG has steadily gained traction among both new fans and longtime TCG veterans. As a shop owner and TCG player myself, I’ve seen firsthand how tough it can be for newcomers to build a strong deck when meta staples are scarce and expensive. Bandai’s strategy with PRB-02 is simple: increase accessibility, cut costs, and fuel interest as the game prepares for a new global release model in 2026.

Why PRB-02 Is a Game-Changer

  • Major Card Reprints: PRB-02 includes crucial cards like Boa Hancock, Portgas D. Ace, Bon Clay, Sanji, Rayleigh, and the ever-popular Monkey D. Luffy 061, whose alternate art version has already seen a $25+ price drop since the reprint announcement.
  • Lower Prices: With more copies entering circulation, competitive staples are already dropping as much as 40% in price on the secondary market—making it easier than ever for new and returning players to join the action.
  • A Level Playing Field: With English and Japanese releases syncing up and staples more widely available, the gap between veteran and rookie players will shrink. The English meta is set to catch up with Japan, so there’s no more lag or disadvantage.
Standard Rotation and Card Legality

Worried about picking up reprints only to have them rotate out? PRB-02 cards, even if originally from earlier sets, will be classified as Block Four and remain legal in Standard after the first scheduled rotation in April 2026. Only original Block One cards (OP01–OP04) will rotate out. Both PRB-01 and PRB-02 reprints will stay tournament-legal, so new and casual players can invest with confidence.

What’s in the One Piece PRB-02 Set?

  • 46 Commons
  • 29 Uncommons
  • 15 Promo cards
  • 41 Rares
  • 34 Super Rares
  • 8 Secret Rares
  • 1 Special rarity
  • 30 Don!! cards
That’s 209 cards total, with new alt-arts, effects, and a handful of brand-new cards to shake up the meta. Packs are expected to retail for $5.99 and include 10 cards each. The Japanese version releases July 26; the English version will follow in October.

Is It a Good Time to Start Playing One Piece TCG?

Absolutely. PRB-02 is about as inviting as it gets, bringing competitive cards within reach and setting the stage for a robust global player base. More local game shops are running weekly tournaments, and Bandai’s push for accessibility means it’s easier for anyone to get started—whether you’re a collector, a seasoned TCG veteran, or a curious newcomer. Grab a starter deck, join your LGS community, and get ready for a more inclusive, exciting One Piece TCG landscape.
