Disney Lorcana just turned two, and the celebration at Gen Con 2025 in Indianapolis was loaded with announcements. Between new expansions, surprise product reveals, and a few nods to classic Disney favorites, the game’s future looks brighter than ever.
New Ways to Jump Into Lorcana
For players who’ve been curious but haven’t yet taken the plunge, October 3 will bring the Lorcana Collection Starter Set. It’s built to help newcomers get going, complete with a Mickey Mouse — Brave Little Tailor-themed 4-pocket portfolio, a Tinker Bell — Giant Fairy promo, four Fabled booster packs, and a collector’s guide.
Collectors will also want to keep an eye out for the Elsa Gift Box, featuring five boosters, an Elsa — The Fifth Spirit promo, a storage box, and three punch-out card dividers. Both products come in at $29.99.
Winterspell and Toy Story Teases for 2026
The first expansion of next year, Winterspell, is on deck for Q1 2026 and promises “Flurries of Fun.” The art shows a snowy twist on tropical scenes with Stitch and Angel front and center, so appearances by Elsa and Olaf seem likely.
Q2 will then see the arrival of Toy Story characters, starting with Woody and Buzz, with the rest of the gang likely tucked into booster packs.
Lorcana Puzzles Hit Shelves September 1
One of the biggest surprises was the reveal of six 1,000-piece Lorcana puzzles, each tied to one of the game’s six ink colors and packed with a Mickey Mouse — True Friend promo card.
So far we’ve seen:
- Amber (Moana)
- Emerald (Cruella de Vil)
- Sapphire (Hades)
- Ruby (Maleficent)
Amethyst and Steel puzzles are still under wraps, and those will only be sold through Disney Stores and their online shop. Each puzzle will retail for $29.99 in the U.S. and Canada.
Whispers in the Well Wraps Up 2025
Coming November 7 for pre-release (and November 14 wide), Whispers in the Well will close out the year’s sets. It introduces a new character type—Whispers, partially formed Glimmers—and adds Zootopia stars Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde to the mix.
Millennial Disney fans will get a dose of nostalgia too, with Gargoyles characters like Demona making their Lorcana debut.
Fabled Brings New Rarities
The next big drop, Fabled, lands August 25 in local game stores and September 5 everywhere else. The set introduces Iconic rarity, which is even harder to pull than Enchanted cards. The first two—Minnie Mouse — Sweetheart Princess and Mickey Mouse — Brave Little Prince—form a single scene when placed side by side.
Also new is the Epic rarity, sitting between Legendary and Enchanted. The first confirmed Epic is Stand Out from A Goofy Movie, a long-awaited fan favorite.
From rare new cards to unexpected crossovers, Gen Con 2025 proved Lorcana isn’t slowing down. With multiple expansions, collectible puzzles, and iconic Disney worlds on the horizon, the next year looks packed for players and collectors alike.
