Mickey Mantle’s 1960 All-Star Game Jersey Could Fetch $4 Million at Heritage Auction

Collectors have a rare opportunity coming up: A game-worn Mickey Mantle Yankees jersey, photo-matched to the 1960 All-Star Game, is about to make its first public auction appearance at Heritage. This isn’t just any Mantle jersey—experts estimate it could bring as much as $4 million when the bidding ends.

The pinstriped Yankees classic is signed and inscribed by Mantle himself with his iconic “No. 7.” What sets this jersey apart is its extensive photo-match pedigree. Authentication teams at MeiGray and Sports Investors have tied it to 13 images, covering not just the first 1960 All-Star Game, but at least three other games that season, an exhibition in 1961, and several candid moments—including shots with teammate Roger Maris and from spring training.

Back in Mantle’s day, players wore their jerseys for far more than just one game or season, and this one is no exception. Even more remarkable, Heritage confirms the jersey is unaltered—a true rarity given how often uniforms from that era were modified or recycled.

The seller, who’s chosen to remain anonymous, acquired the jersey in the 1990s from the estate of one of Mantle’s teammates, making this a “fresh-to-market” find for the hobby.

If it meets its estimate, this Mantle gamer would join the most elite company: A 1958 Mantle jersey sold last year for $4.68 million, and another from the World Series reached $3 million in 2024, both through Heritage.

With demand for Mickey Mantle memorabilia at an all-time high, this All-Star jersey stands out as one of the most significant pieces to surface in years—and a potential centerpiece for any serious Yankees collection.
