Bright lights and dark backdrops combine in 2023-24 Topps Midnight Basketball, an autograph-forward release that marks the brand’s hoops debut.

Like Topps Chrome and the other Topps basketball products released for the season, it’s licensed by the NBA Players Association but not by the league. That means a wide mix of players but no logos or trademarks.

2023-24 Topps Midnight Basketball hobby boxes have seven cards, three of which are are autographs.

The base set goes light with just 100 cards. It’s all veteran stars and rookies. Parallels come in nine levels, all of which bypass traditional colors for themes revolving around the moon and times of day:

Horizon Signatures (1:3 packs) and Rookie Horizons Signatures (1:2 packs) are the main source of autographs.

Among the Stroke of Midnight Autographs (1:3 packs) are LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Larry Bird, Jayson Tatum and Jerry West.

Rounding out the signatures is Rookie Jersey Autographs (1:3 packs). Fanatics exclusives Victor Wembanyama and Brandon Millers are among the signers.

The 2023-24 Topps Midnight Basketball checklist has a handful of other insert sets. Nightball (1:5 packs), Star Studded (1:5 packs), Lunar Tide (1:9 packs) and Constellations (1:7 packs) are among the more common.
