One could look at 2023-24 Topps Royalty Basketball and see it as their answer to National Treasures. It’s not just the similar vibes that the set names give off. As far as content goes, Royalty’s checklist is dominated by autographs and complimented by memorabilia. There’s also rarity, with every card in the product coming numbered to 99 and under. Hobby boxes have eight cards, half of which are autographs. Things start with a 125-card base set that’s split into two sections. The first 100 are a blend of veterans and stars from the past. Purple, Blue, Pink, Gold Green and Platinum make up the parallel colors. Twenty-five Rookie Patch Autographs round it out. These have additional Blue, Gold Green and Tags versions as well. Many of the 2023-24 Topps Royalty Basketball autograph and memorabilia inserts adopt regal themes like The Coronation, Regalia Relic Signatures, Pillars of Greatness, Superior Signatures, Pursuit of Greatness and Royal Precedence. There are also to-the-point names like Rookie Autographs, Relic Signatures, Jumbo Super Signatures and Jersey Tag Autographs. Dual and Triple Autographs are also on the checklist. Like Topps’ other 2023-24 basketball products, Royalty is licensed by the NBAPA but not the league as Panini continues to hold exclusive rights. This means an expansive list of players but no NBA logos or uniforms.
