2023-24 Upper Deck Engrained Hockey lays out some high-end stick work, returning for the first time since 2019-20. While the checklist has plenty of autographs and memorabilia cards, much of the content uses themes inspired by sticks. Hobby boxes include one autograph plus two additional hits from signatures, memorabilia or premium inserts done on either wood or metal. The base set, which takes on an oak theme, has 200 total cards. Within that, though, are a handful of subsets. Sixty-five veterans (/349) are followed by 35 Legends (/299) cards. 2023-24 rookies (/399) total 65 cards. Filling in for the lost years are 25 2022-23 Rookie Update and 10 2021-22 Rookie Update cards numbered to 299. The 2021-22 cards are bonus cards in hobby boxes, giving them seven total cards instead of the usual six. Parallels embrace different types of wood with Ebony (/49), Mahogany (/10) and Rosewood (1/1). Veterans and Legends also have White Birch (/20). In addition to these are a variety of hits-based parallels for select cards: One of the autographs in every hobby box falls under the Signature Shots banner. These use a carbon fiber piece for the signing area rather than directly on the card or with a typical sticker. Standard veteran-focused Signature Shots and Legendary Signature Shots both have Red (/10) and Blue (1/1) parallels. Rookie Signature Shots have four levels of rarity with print runs that range from a high of 299 copies to a low of 49. Red (/99 or less), Green (/75 or less) and Blue (1/1) are the parallels available for these.
