2023 Panini Contenders Optic Football chromes out the main Contenders line. Like its inspiration, autographs are a key part of the checklist. But the change in card stock brings with it an opportunity to go in a different, more colorful direction with parallels.
The configuration is also different here. Rather than going with Contenders’ many packs, Contenders Optic has just one pack of six cards. Two of those are autographs with one insert and one parallel joining them.
Not only are signatures focal point, but Optic focuses largely on on-card ink.
The centerpiece of the checklist are Rookie Ticket Autographs. Regular Contenders has parallels that revolve largely on different levels of tickets and corresponding games. Here, it’s the more common rainbow approach that virtually all chromium releases use.
Looking to Contenders’ past are Tribute Autographs that recreate some of the brand’s classic cards this time with Optic’s stock.
Throwback Rookie Autographs take familiar designs and apply them to today’s players.
