2024-25 Panini Obsidian Soccer returns with its black opti-chrome finish, stylish die-cut inserts, and plenty of colorful parallels and autographs featuring popular players from both club and national teams from around the globe. Each hobby box will have seven cards, including one base card, one base parallel, one insert or insert parallel, and a total of four autographs or memorabilia cards. The base cards take on a dark theme, with a black background and chrome accents, but collectors will still find plenty of colorful cards in the set. Among the lengthy parallel rainbow will be the return of the popular Flood parallels that emblazon color all across the cards and the more subdued Electric Etch parallels that give the cards colorful accents. One-per-case White Contra cards are also back. Insert sets included in Obsidian include die-cuts in Supernova and Equinox, and the ever-popular Color Blast. A new concept, Iridescent, is a case hit. Collectors will again be chasing Black Color Blast inserts, a case hit that strips away the traditional white background and replaces it with a stunning black background that helps the rainbow explosion pop off the card. Autograph sets will include Lightning Strike and Volcanic, which also include a jersey swatch. A 25th anniversary set will honor the 1999 United States Women’s National Team, which picked up a memorable FIFA World Cup victory by defeating China on penalty kicks. The autographs will likely be a popular pick among collectors.
