Product Overview

2024 Topps Cosmic Chrome Baseball launches for space with lots of stars, Refractors, bold designs and even a nod to one of the company’s iconic entertainment brands. For those who followed for the line’s first couple of years, the big looks have not been curbed. The end result is something that is both familiar and out there. The product hits the launchpad with a 200-card base set. It’s done on Chrome stock (which should be expected given that it’s in the name) with lots of design embellishments and bright colors. Think 1991-92 SkyBox Basketball meets late ’90s Metal Universe. Parallels are Refractors, but, for the most part, they’re more than just your standard colors. Levels include: Similar to standard 2024 Topps Chrome Baseball, Cosmic Chrome has a large number of insert sets. Among them is the return of Planetary Pursuit. Rather than a traditional rainbow, players in this set have 10 different cards, one for the sun and each planet in our solar system. Rarity is determined by the planet’s distance from the center. So Sun versions are the most common and it goes out from there. Jasson Dominguez, aka The Martian, gets his own insert set with The Martian Attacks. These find inspiration in Topps’ Mars Attacks cards. Base versions are extremely tough with additional Black Eclipse Refractors (/10), Red Flare Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1) also available. Stars in the Night fall one per hobby box while Stella Nova is a case hit. According to Topps, Supernova is a super short print. Among the more common inserts are Astrologically Aligned, Galactic Greatness, Into the Cosmos, Launched Into Orbit, and Star Command. All have Gold Interstellar Refractors (/50), Orange Galactic Refractors (/25), Black Eclipse Refractors (/10), Red Flare Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1) to go alongside their base versions. Some have Green Space Dust Refractors (/75) as well. Finally, Starfractor makes its debut.
