2025 SkyBox Metal Universe AEW takes wrestling cards on a somewhat nostalgic trip to the extreme. We’re not talking ECW extreme. Rather, big designs and out-there themes, many of which have roots in the past but still stand out in the present. This is also a product for collectors who like inserts. The checklist has a lot of them. While some are very rare, others are not. The result is plenty of variety in each hobby box. In fact most packs should have multiple inserts or parallels. The base set has 100 cards covering the AEW roster. Parallels start with Copper FX, which are 1:60 packs. From there, things shift to the iconic Precious Metal Gems, which are available in Red (/100), Green (/10) and Gold (1/1). Purple Spectrum FX cards, which are numbered to 199, are exclusive to blaster packs. Select cards also have autographs in Silver FX (1:100 packs), Green FX (/10) and Gold FX (1/1). Among the throwbacks on the checklist is 2013 Metal Universe Retros (1:8 packs). These use an old-school design and use illustrations of featured wrestlers. More PMGs are available with these. Going with the original colors for the parallels are 100 Red and 10 Green versions. Taking things a little more modern are additional Blue (/50) and Gold (1/1) versions. Jamabalaya, a staple in modern Metal Universe releases, ranks among the toughest inserts. Falling 1:360 packs, these stick with the standard oval shaped design that has marked Jambalaya cards from their debut in the 1990s.
