2025 Topps Chrome Black Baseball goes for another shot in the dark. Living up to its name, it goes in a different direction than most other Chrome releases, going for a more sleek look that’s got color highlights instead of rainbow bursts. This year, it comes with a different configuration. Each hobby box still has an encased autograph, but it’s packaged separately from a pair of seven-card packs. In 2024, Topps Chrome Black hobby boxes were single-pack affairs with four total cards. Now it’s up to 13. The 150-card base set is all veterans and rookies. Retired players are on the checklist, but are limited to the autograph section of the product. It’s the dark look that makes these cards stand out. Black backdrops and elegant lines make it very different from standard Topps Chrome and even Finest. Autographs come already in a holder for added protection. The bulk of these are standard Autographs that come with on-card signatures. More than 100 signers are available here. Other themes include Super Futures Autographs that feature young standouts, Ivory Autographs and Pitch Black Pairings Dual Autographs.
