2025 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball returns as the season-ending companion to the main Heritage release, updating the checklist with late-year rookies, traded players, and new uniforms on a classic throwback design.
Heritage High Number functions much like an update series for the brand, but instead of starting fresh at card #1, it continues the numbering from the spring Heritage release. The 2025 edition carries forward the nostalgic look of 1976 Topps Baseball, echoing both the original flagship design and the follow-up Topps Traded release from that era.
This is a hobby-exclusive product, and each sealed hobby box is slated to deliver one autograph or relic card. Collectors can also expect the usual mix of short prints, variations, and chrome parallels built around the retro theme.
The 2025 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball base set is planned at 225 cards. It picks up where the main Heritage checklist left off, so the first card in High Number is #501. The final 25 cards in the run are short prints, continuing the brand’s tradition of tougher late-numbered subjects.
Short-print variations return with several familiar and new twists. Image and Nickname variations are back, giving select cards alternate photography or playful monikers. New for this release are Alternate Cartoons and Flipped Bat versions, adding more chase elements for variation collectors.
Standard parallels are joined by chrome editions of select base cards, with multiple color parallels available for those looking to build rainbows or focus on specific players.
Because the 1976 design coincided with America’s bicentennial, Topps has woven that celebration into the 2025 Heritage High Number lineup. New parallels, inserts, and relics pay tribute to the look and feel of the country’s 200th birthday festivities.
Bicentennial Stars and Bicentennial Relics spotlight players on designs that nod to the patriotic styling of the mid-1970s. Additional inserts dig deeper into the 1976 season itself. The 1976 Retirees set revisits icons who closed out their careers that year, including greats such as Henry Aaron. Another insert, Undefeated, highlights the dominant 1976 Cincinnati Reds and their run of seven straight postseason victories.
Collectors can also hunt for original 1976 Topps Baseball cards that have been foil-stamped and inserted as buybacks, offering a direct connection to the vintage set that inspired the entire release.
